As a barista at Coffee Fellows you have the unique opportunity to introduce Houston to a new coffee shop experience. In addition to maintaining the overall feel of your cafe, you will be the eyes and ears of the operations, helping our guests, and creating the Coffee Fellows “Feel at Home” experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly prepare and handle hot beverages to brand specifications.
- Regularly prepare and handle hot food to brand specifications.
- Regularly prepare food items that require the use of knives and other sharp objects.
- Basic understanding of computer POS systems and ability to process guest transactions.
- Frequently use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
- Able to stand for long hours.
- Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- High organizational ability and detail oriented.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Essential functions are tasks, duties and responsibilities that result in accomplishing the purpose and objectives of your position. They are critical and fundamental criteria for which the barista is held accountable and the metrics evaluated during performance reviews.
- Welcomes guests by determining their coffee interest and needs.
- Take guest orders accurately.
- Responds proactively to prevent guest service situations.
- Operates coffee grinder, brewer and espresso machines; cleans machinery as required.
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following recipes and preparation techniques for different coffee drinks.
- Prepares and sells food items by following recipes and preparation techniques for different menu items.
- Able to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
- Maintaining and improving the appearance of the cafe.
- Record and accurately process purchases using the POS system, collect and process payments credit card and debit cards.
- Maintaining drive-thru window and sales register quickly and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A love of delicious coffee.
- Ability to stay cool under pressure.
- Ability to work mornings, nights and weekends.
- Ability to stand for a while and lift up to 30lbs.
- A detail-oriented approach.
- Accountability and reliability
- Valid Texas Food Handlers Certificate
